Tube Type Numbering System

Each tube is identified by either a non-descriptive 4 digit type number, which is standardized and registered with the ELECTRONICS INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION (EIA), to enable non-duplications through-out the world, or by a coded numbering system, which is designated to convey descriptive information about the tube.  Many tubes can be identified by either number, and are branded with both.
